Some Where Distant

by Karah Kay Pay-an

Twilight sight of the moon reflected in the mountain lake.
Bells of Notre Dame church with its midnight ringing,
a thousand miles away.
The strong fragrance of
Casablanca lily drifts
towards the night sky.
The placid swirl of sands
in the distant deserts sing lullabies.
Sparkling of the multicolored glass windows
in the Vatican church.
A lady with the wind in her hair stares
at the dawning sky.
Spreading of pastel colors
as touch by the waking sun.
Then there is only fading whispers of the night calling
out to anyone who will listen.
