In Front of a Mirror

by Karah Kay Pay-an

Cotton candy smell of
a hug. Such a nostalgic scent
of a distant past.
A girl dressed in pink
with a huge silk ribbon
tied in the back
by herself
with no one
to show it to.
In front of a mirror
reflects a girl
in a pink cotton dress
with a huge silk ribbon at the back
but, no one else.
The girl comes closer,
closer to the mirror
a huge smile on her face
while her eyes
sparkle with tears in them.
Now a young woman
stands in front
of the mirror
with a pink silk
bridal gown
no longer the only
one reflected in the mirror.
