History Repeats Itself

Xuan-Nhan Cornett

Someone is stepping down so some other can step it up
While our empires underneath the sheets are crumbling
I have crumbled too
And naked on your mother’s bed my everything wants to know
If you will worship this pile of rubble I have become
Please worship me, this pile of rubble I have become
With a little less love and a little more mortar
I could be the walls for some brand new defense mechanism
Something new to explain to your newer someone
And our callused sheets and wondering sex drives
Could dance into the hands of newer, and newer someones
Till some somersaulting load of truth will break you down
And in the reflection of your newest someone you will find, you have become very old
So you step down so some other can step it up
While your empires underneath the sheets are crumbling
